Training & Education Services
Haven provides domestic and sexual violence training to law enforcement, health care providers and students. Presentations and awareness to the general public have been, and will continue to be our most powerful tools to combat the epidemic of violence.
Training and Education services are available to our clients FREE of charge.
- Counseling; Group & Individual.
- Transportation.
- Résumé writing, mock interviews, employment assistance, etc.
- Computer education programs.
- Tutoring for children.
- Assistance with enrolling in higher education programs such as college and technical training.
- Counseling and/or education program in local prison for inmates being released back into the community within 30 days.
- Parenting classes for all.
- Children's groups are scheduled at the same time as the adult group so there are no child care issues.
- Independent Living classes or Life Skills: educating clients on how to open bank accounts, how to pay bills, how to use an ATM, etc.
- Information and Referral to and transportation to other agencies for services needed by clients not offered by Haven; such as Food Stamp programs, Unemployment, Mental Health Services, etc.
- Assistance with child care or day care for working parents.
- Education for the Public: professional training for Police, DCF, and other professionals. General information speaking engagements for the general public, civic organizations, religious groups, etc.
