Domestic Violence Services
Haven is one of Florida's 42 Certified Domestic Violence Centers
24-hour hotlines provide immediate crisis intervention. Victims and their dependent children receive temporary emergency shelter, food, clothing, transportation, and counseling (both individual and group). Continuing services include health, housing, education and employment referrals.
Outreach counseling is available in both Lake & Sumter Counties.
Transitional living is available to those victims requiring longer term physical and/or emotional healing.
Legal Advocacy provides victims with referrals and/or legal representation in cases of protective injunctions, child custody and/or support and other legal issues. The advocate can also help secure financial assistance and restitution under the Victims of Crime Act.
Children's Services provides counseling, advocacy, and/or referrals for children through 17 years of age, who are victims of, or witness to domestic and/or sexual abuse, Group counseling and Positive Parenting sessions are available for caregivers of these children to assist in dealing with and caring for troubled kids.
Male victims of domestic violence may also receive Haven services. Our Domestic Violence services are available to ALL our clients FREE of charge.

- Elderly/Senior Counseling program.
- Assistance with transition to the community: housing, furniture, food, clothing, etc.
- Children’s recreational programs.
- Transitional living for up to 36 months, especially for clients in college.
- 24hr/7days response to all hospitals and police departments to serve victims with trauma situations: Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault; Rape exams.
- Legal Services: accompany client to court for all types of hearings, such as Civil, Criminal, Family, DCF, Divorce, Custody, etc.
- Counseling groups for Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence in county jail for men and women.
- Counseling and/or education program in local prison for inmates being released back into the community within 30 days.
- Parenting classes for all.
- Children's groups are scheduled at the same time as the adult group so there are no child care issues.
- Information and Referral to and transportation to other agencies for services needed by clients not offered by Haven; such as Food Stamp programs, Unemployment, Mental Health Services, etc.
- Assistance with child care or day care for working parents.
- Gifts and/or food are distributed for the clients and their children on special occasions, such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, Back to School, Easter baskets, Valentines Day, Halloween candy, birthdays, etc.
