Harms a person's self esteem and causes shame.
Some examples are:
  • Insults and put downs

  • Threats to your safety

  • Repeated lies and broken promises

  • Withholding affection -the silent treatment

  • Jealousy that affects your time with friends and family

  • Controlling your every move (dressing, eating, where you go…)

PHYSICAL ABUSE


Causes physical pain, injury, and trauma.
Some examples are:
  • Punching, kicking, or slapping

  • Shaking, pushing, or grabbing

  • Attacking with a weapon

  • Any physical act that is uncomfortable, hurtful and unwanted


SEXUAL ASSAULT INCLUDES:

  • Child Molestation    
  • Rape
  • Sexual Harassment

  • Rape

  • Fondling

  • Incest

  • Voyeurism

  • Exposure

  • Coercion

FORCED SEX IS RAPE AND
RAPE IS A CRIME

The term RAPE includes penetration of the mouth, vagina or anus by a penis or any other body part or objects. A victim of rape can be FORCED physically or verbally, and forcing someone into sexual relations against their will is a CRIME.

Sexual Assault occurs because of rapists' need to control others, not primarily for sexual gratification.

Three out of four victims know their attacker. These AQUAINTANCE RAPES usually occur on dates or in other social settings. 75% of these include alcohol and other drugs.

One of four female college students experiences an attempted or completed sexual assault.
One of eight high school students will become involved in at least one violent relationship before graduation.

Recent researching concludes that about 3.5% of all BOYS are sexually abused before the age of thirteen.
